Books
Hi guys, I have this book called 'Grid System: Principles of Organizing Type' by Kimberly Elam that I reckon quite inspiring. It covers some grid system that used by Bauhaus to Nike catalog. Some info from the book cover:
"Filled with an expansive range of twentieth-century examples of design, from Jan Tschichold's brochure for Die Neue Typographie to Bauhaus graphics to a Nike catalog, Grid System provides a rich, easy-to-understand overview of the grid and demonstrates a step-by-step approach to typographic composition. It reveals design strategies that transcend simple function and reductionist recipes to allow grids to become a means of truly dynamic communication."
I will bring this book every Monday to class. So just let me know if you want to have a look and photocopy some pages.
On the other hand, for something a bit more fun and also inspiring, I also got a book called "Type Addicted". Inside, you will see several familiar names in graphic design world and their works. I will bring this to class as well for you guys to have a look.
